BOBS Worth will gear up for his Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup defence with a spin on the Lambourn gallops on Sunday.
Nicky Henderson had been considering the possibility of sending the reigning champion to Newbury for a racecourse gallop, but testing ground at the Berkshire venue has forced the trainer into a rethink.
Bobs Worth, leading Crabbie’s Grand National contender Triolo D’ Alene and Tolworth Hurdle winner Royal Boy will instead be in action on the Mandown gallops.
Henderson said: “I don’t think we want to be galloping on this ground, so we’re allowed to go to Mandown instead.”
The Seven Barrows handler took 16 inmates to Kempton for a gallop on Friday morning, with BetVictor Queen Mother Champion Chase contender Captain Conan and JLT Novices’ Chase fancy Oscar Whisky among the party.
“It all went well, there were no dramas. A couple had a good blow and there were some good times,” said Henderson.
“Oscar Whisky went well, and Captain Conan went well.”
