RICHIE Crocker fired Inter Sandgate into the final of the Chairman’s Trophy with a quality quartet as his team romped to a 7-0 victory over Sunday League Division One rivals Penhill United.

The in-form hitman completed his hat-trick before half-time with further strikes from Ryan Wootten and Craig Alexander to give Sandgate a 5-0 lead.

Alexander added the sixth after the interval before Crocker sealed the semi-final rout late on.

Manager Jason Smith said: “The lads really performed. We were expecting a close game as we have had some tight matches with Penhill in the league.

“But we turned up and played really well.”

Sandgate will now meet Trak in the final on Sunday, April 27 at Swindon Supermarine’s home, the Webb’s Wood Stadium, after they beat Division Three outfit Rodbourne Real 6-1.

“I’m expecting another tough, tough game with Trak being in our division,” Smith said.

“But hopefully the boys will play like they did on Sunday as that will give a good chance.”

With Sandgate sitting in sixth place in the table, Smith is hoping that Trophy success will help ease what has been a disappointing campaign.

New Century edged a seven-goal thriller against The Dolphin in the Knockout Cup, while AFC Gas were held to 3-3 draw at Greyhound in Division One.

Dynamo Ashton gave themselves some breathing room in the fight for survival in Division Two as they edged out fellow strugglers Halcrow 3-2.

Cheney moved within six points of Division Three leaders FC Walcot – who have played two more games the second-placed side, following a 10-3 thrashing of fourth placed PL Motor Service.

A first-half debut hat-trick from Dominic Wood set Cleeve Tech up for a big 8-2 win over Chiseldon in Division Four.

A 30-yard screamer from Kieran McCarthy helped Cleeve on the way to a comfortable 4-0 lead at half time.

In the second half two more goals from Kieran McCarthy to complete his hat-trick and further strikes from Daryl Pryor and Peter Malham gave Cleeve Tech a well deserved victory.

Nationwide Pavilion maintained their six-point lead at the summit following their 10-2 win at Toothill Revolution, while second-placed FS Swindon defeated Eldene 3-1.

DPR maintained their slim hope of lifting the Division Five title as they beat RJ Aerials 3-1, while in Division Six Coleshill Youth moved to the summit by one goal following their 8-0 thrashing of basement boys CM Automotive.
