SUPERMARINE Sports Club charge to the Wiltshire League title was halted in their top-of-the-table clash at Shrewton United.

The South Marston side went into the match into with a six point lead over their second placed hosts, however, that was cut to three as Shrewton ran out 2-1 winners.

Both sides have three games of their campaigns remaining and Supermarine know that they cannot afford to slip up again if they are to be crowned champions.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Wroughton were on the wrong end of a 5-2 home beating by Trowbridge Town, while Vale of Pewsey held Wilts Calne Town to a 1-1 draw and SKS Blyskawica suffered a 2-1 defeat at Ludgershall Sports.

Malmesbury reserves played their first home league match since December 14 and they stormed to an 8-1 victory over Sarum Youth Seniors in Division One.

The win at the Flying Monk Ground also avenged Sarum’s 4-2 win at Castle Meadow back in January.

Intel’s hopes of taking the title suffered a major setback when they crashed at home to Melksham Town reserves.

The hosts held a four-point lead over their visitors prior to the match, but that has now been cut to one with Melksham having four games in hand over the table-toppers.
