SWINDON Town were last night staying tight-lipped about Ryan Mason’s recovery time after the midfielder underwent an ankle operation.

Mason had surgery on Monday in an attempt to correct a long-standing problem which flared up again last month, and the on-loan Tottenham midfielder tweeted a picture of himself in his hospital bed after going under the knife.

The 22-year-old wrote: “Just had an op on my ankle to sort this on going problem! Hopefully it's all sorted now and no more problems.”

With just 10 weeks of the League One campaign remaining, it is unclear whether or not Town fans will see the midfielder in action again this term but Swindon remained non-committal on the topic when approached by the Advertiser yesterday.

Manager Mark Cooper politely declined the paper’s request to comment on the situation, while Spurs were not able to offer a timeframe for Mason’s rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, the Adver understands Alex Pritchard is in line for a return to the Town first-team squad for the weekend visit of MK Dons.

Pritchard has missed the Robins’ last three matches with a medial ligament strain but has resumed training at Liddington and should be fit enough to be considered by Cooper for selection on Saturday.
