3:27pm

Anyway, that's it for me at the UK Open after Swindon's interest in the tournament ended in the second round. Don't forget to pick up your copy of the Adver for full reaction to today's events.

I will leave you with this video of Dennis Smith, Mark Cox and Johnny Haines giving their reaction to their defeats, which could, and nearly did, go a lot worse.

2:50pm

RESULT: Darren Webster 5 Mark Cox 1

And with that, Swindon's day at the UK Open is over.

2:38pm

RESULT: Dennis Smith 2 Peter Hudson 5

Smiffy's run is over. He was always playing catch-up here.

2:37pm

THE VENUE

Swindon Advertiser:

And here's room three, where the Swindon players have been based. Six boards in here and plenty of buzz.

2:36pm

LATEST: Dennis Smith 2 Peter Hudson 4

Smiffy on the brink, he needs to win all three remaining legs.

2:35pm

THE VENUE

Swindon Advertiser:

Board two, where Dennis Smith played his first game today. This board has its own room.

2:32pm

LATEST: Dennis Smith 2 Peter Hudson 3

Work to do for Smiffy.

2:32pm

THE VENUE

Swindon Advertiser:

Here's the main stage. It's enormous and I'm pretty sure there's room for more people just on this board than at Bolton altogether.

2:29pm

THE VENUE

The UK Open has moved from Bolton to Minehead this year and, after being all in the same room at the Reebok Stadium the boards are now split between three venues here at Minehead.

2:28pm

LATEST: Dennis Smith 2 Peter Hudson 2

Hudson is a very well built man.

2:26pm

LATEST: Dennis Smith 2 Peter Hudson 1

While I was talking to Chris Aubrey, Dennis Smith kicked off against Peter Hudson and is off to a good start

2:23pm

I just caught up with Chris Aubrey who was almost lost for words following his defeat to Lionel Sams.

Swindon Advertiser: SO CLOSE: Chris Aubrey

"It's really hard to take, really hard to take," he said.

"I've done everything I can to prepare for this one and so to lose in the first round is hard.

"Lionel's no mug and his been around the block but I should be winning games like that."

2:14pm

RESULT: Johnny Haines 4 Nigel Heydon 5

Heydon takes out 108 to dispose of Haines.

2:13pm

He misses, Heydon wants 108

2:12pm

Haines coming back four double six.

2:12pm

A 180 leaves Haines on 98, with Heydon back on 167

2:11pm

Haines in control of the final leg after opening with 123.

2:10pm

LATEST: Johnny Haines 4 Nigel Heydon 4

Going to a decider.

2:08pm

LATEST: Johnny Haines 4 Nigel Heydon 3

Magnificent from Haines as he takes out 133 to put himself a leg away.

2:07pm

But he then fires in a 180, much more like it.

2:07pm

And it doesn't look like he's going to get it in this leg. He's started with 60 and 43!

2:06pm

This one's going with throw, but Haines needs a break if he is to get the win.

2:06pm

LATEST: Johnny Haines 3 Nigel Heydon 3.

Haines levels the match once again on double eight.

2:05pm

I dread to think how many cigarettes get smoked over the course of this weekend. That's just from the players! Plenty of gruff voices around this place, including the women.

2:03pm

LATEST: Johnny Haines 2 Nigel Heydon 3

2:02pm

LATEST: Johnny Haines 2 Nigel Heydon 2

But he levels it up on double 10! Great stuff from the Punk.

2:00pm

Haines is in a bit of bother here in leg four. Heyden starts with a 180 and two tons.

1:59pm

LATEST: Johnny Haines 1 Nigel Heydon 2

1:56pm

LATEST: Johnny Haines 1 Nigel Heydon 1

1:56pm

Heydon is known as the Undertaker.

Swindon Advertiser:

1:54pm

The second round is underway and, complete with 'plenty' of beers, Johnny Haines is on board five against Nigel Heydon.

1:28pm

Hopefully Johnny Haines is able to make it through his second game. The Punk has had 'plenty' of beers.

Swindon Advertiser: Swindon's Johnny Haines

1:28pm

That's the first session done and dusted for the Swindon players, but we'll be back later with more from the darts as round two begins.

1:23pm

1:05pm

1:02pm

Chris Aubrey is just getting going against Lionel Sams.

1:02pm

RESULT: MARK COX 5 SHAUN NARAIN 4

Cox comes from beund to take it. Could we have a Swindon clean sweep in round one?

12:54pm

Coxy is at 3-3 now.

12:54pm

I just spoke to Johnny Haines who is naturally pleased with his result.

Swindon Advertiser: Johnny Haines in action at the World Championships last night

"Brilliant, over the moon, I played well then," he said.

"I can't wait for the next round."

12:51pm

Things not looking so good for Mark Cox as he trails Shaun Narain 2-1.

12:48pm

12:48pm

That's a great win for Smiffy who makes it through round one in style.

12:34pm

DENNIS SMITH 3 MARK HYLTON 0

12:33pm

Chris Aubrey will now play Lionel Sams after Sams beat Karl Green in the preliminary round.

12:29pm

DENNIS SMITH 1 MARK HYLTON 0

Smiffy hits a 180 and takes out tops.

12:13pm

Right, I'm off to find the stages. Updates soon.

12:13pm

Johnny Haines is also on in a bit, as he opens up on stage three against Steve Douglas.

12:12pm

The UK Open has moved to Butlins in Minehead this year, rather the the Reebok in Bolton, with the stages spread all over the place, so you will have to bear with while I run around looking for them all.

12:11pm

First up for Swindon is Dennis Smith, who takes on Mark Hylton on stage two once the first preliminary match is over and done with.

12:04pm

Good afternoon and welcome to the Adver's coverage of the UK Open darts in Minehead.

Dennis Smith, Chris Aubrey, Johnny Haines and Mark Cox are all in action today, so stick right here for updates on their progress.

Devastating. I'm gutted for them. Spend all that time down the pub practicing and fall at the second hurdle. Oh well, drown your sorrows and back to the pub for more practice. Tough life being an athlete.
