HIGHWORTH Town ladies progressed to the next round in the Wiltshire League Cup after adding to their winning streak with a 4-3 win over Frome Town after extra time.

Highworth battled hard in the first half, keeping a strong Frome side at bay with some great defending by Lucy Gooch and Libby Hale, and broke on the counter attack after Frome spilled the ball.

The first goal came in this manner as Kerry Walklett played a long ball from midfield into Hannah Luker who beat the whole defence to slot Highworth ahead.

Frome battled back and managed to equalise before the half time whistle but, going into the second half, some great play from Hannah Dalgeish and captain Shannon Gabb got Luker her second which helped Highworth to take the lead once again.

Frome caught Highworth napping with some quick play which saw them equalise to end the 90 minutes locked at 2-2, but Highworth kept their heads up going into extra time and soon led again when Sarah Rayworth scored a rocket shot from a corner.

After a controversial penalty Frome equalised but Highworth played to the final whistle which paid off when Gabb battled her way through a strong defence to score the final goal of the game to make it 4-3.
