FERNDALE’S Shrey Bhardwaj completed a spectacular clean sweep of the junior titles on offer at the Wiltshire County Table Tennis Championships held earlier this month.

The youngster dominated all the categories at Dauntsey’s School in Devizes, starting with the under-18 doubles event where he joined up with his club partner Conor Mc Gilligan.

Next up was the big event of the day, the under-18 singles, in which he was seeded second. In the final Bhardwaj faced number one seed Chris Satchell in a closely watched encounter closely and tensely contested by the two players.

Shrey overcame a 2-1 deficit to equalize and then went on to win the coveted title in the deciding set.

Having won both the singles and doubles titles in the higher age-group, Shrey played next in the under-15 singles category, in which he was the defending champion from last year.

The additional pressure notwithstanding, Shrey won the final against Charlie Joyce in three straight sets 11-4, 11-9, 14-12 to clinch his third title of the day to hold on to the WTTA House Cup.

The previous day Bhardwaj played for the Gloucester B team in the final leg of the National Junior League held at Wood Green Sports Academy in Wednesbury, and guided his team to the Division Two title.
