SHANE Moore has warned the wounded Basingstoke Bison to beware of the in-form Swindon Wildcats when they rock up at the Link Centre tomorrow night.

Bison were pipped to the EPL title by Manchester Phoenix last weekend and, with the play-offs looming on the horizon, Cats are determined to stretch their winning run beyond five.

Having defeated the Hampshire side 5-2 three weeks ago on their own rink to kick off this fine run of results, Wildcats captain Moore is all too aware that the visitors will be gunning for revenge.

However, Moore believes that Swindon can make it four wins from six meetings against Bison.

“We when played Basingstoke recently, I don’t know what is was with them but I don’t think they were at their best,” Moore said.

“We played well and deserved the points, but I think that they will step it up a gear, they are great team with a lot of depth.

“But so are we, we have some great players and they should be afraid of that too.”

With a place in the play-offs already assured, Cats go into the final weekend of the regular season, which includes a trip to bottom-of-the-table Slough Jets on Sunday in fifth place, level on points with Telford Tigers.

But despite booking their spot at the after season party, Moore wants to keep this winning run going.

“It is a tough weekend to finish the season,” he said. “The key is our form, we just need to keep going, do the simple things right and that will win us games.

“It is not about securing that play-off spot, because we have got that. Some people may think that we can take a night off, but we can’t.

“If you take that mindset then you’ll get beat, lose that form and moral. Right now we are on a high and we need to keep that going.”

Moore is hoping that Cats can maintain this fine form, having come from 3-1 down at Sheffield Steeldogs to win 5-4 with a late strike from Sam Godfrey.

“Swindon as a club, definitely in my time, have never won five in a row,” he said. “So to see that form coming into the play-offs is really good.

“We just need to keep going now, there is not long left. Hopefully, we can keep this form going and take some silver.

“It nice to see a few different guys get on the scoreboard too, as it shows that we are not a one-dimesional team.

“Some people look at us and go ‘all the goals come from Aaron Nell, Jonas Hoog and Henri Sandvik’, but right now we’ve got guys scoring across the line.”
