FLYING Finn Henri Sandvik was the big winner at Swindon Wildcats end of season presentation evening.

Although the Link Centre side are still gunning for play-off glory this weekend, with a semi-final clash with Manchester Phoenix on Saturday afternoon, Cats dished out seven gongs at their annual bash.

Forward Sandvik has been in impressive form this year for Ryan Aldridge’s side scoring 29 goals and 37 assists in the his 50 outings.

The 27-year-old was crowned the Supporters’ Player of the Year, the Coaches’ Player of the Year and the best forward.

Sandvik’s compatriot Aku Pekkarinen, who has scored 10 goals and 34 assists in 53 appearances this term, was named the club’s best defender.

Aaron Nell picked up the Dave Richardson Award for being this season’s Best British Forward, having scored 32 goals from 28 games with 16 assists, while Great Britain under 18 star Ollie Betteridge was voted the Most Improved Player for the 2013-14 season after netting twice in 49 appearances with 10 assist.

The final award night, the Players’ Player of the Year, went to Czech import Jan Kostal, who recently agreed a new one-year contract after racking up 34 games for the club so far this season, scoring 27 goals, including Sunday’s dramatic penalty to seal Cats’ spot in the play-off semi-final this weekend, and making 27 assists.
