SWINDON Wildcats have missed out on a place in the English Premier League play-off final after suffering overtime heartbreak at the hands of Manchester Phoenix this afternoon.

The two sides finished level at 3-3 at the end of regulation time at the Skydome in Coventry, before Frantisek Bakrlik struck in the extra session for the league winners to send Cats out.

Ryan Watt, Aaron Nell and Jonas Hoog had previously found the net as the Link Centre side more than matched their opponents but, despite another impressive display from Cats netminder Stevie Lyle, it wasn't enough to send them through to the final.
