Korneliussen Mad about Swindon Robins return

Swindon Advertiser: Swindon asset Mads Korneliussen Swindon asset Mads Korneliussen

MADS Korneliussen is looking forward to a rare outing for his parent club this evening as he prepares to guest for Swindon at Belle Vue.

The Dane represented the Robins for three spells between 2006 and 2010 and comes into Alun Rossiter’s side tonight in the absence of skipper Troy Batchelor who is on his way back to Britain following his appearance in Saturday’s New Zealand Grand Prix.

Korneliussen hasn’t represented the Robins since his final spell in the club’s team, although he has ridden in a number of individual events including the Bob Kilby Memorial, and is looking forward to playing his part at Kirky Lane.

“I can’t remember the last time I rode for Swindon to be honest but I don’t think I’ve guested for them or anything since I was last in the team so it will be good to be back,” he said.

“It’s nice to be able to help them out but also get some extra time on the bike too and, although it’s not one of my favourite tracks, I always seem to go quite well around Belle Vue. Hopefully it will be the same again because I’m really looking forward to it.

“Swindon have a good team, an exciting team, although it’s sad they’ve lost a reserve already. I’m looking forward to being in the team and it should be a good laugh.

“I have some good memories of Swindon and it seems like the club is really progressing now which is good to see as it’s looking bright.”

Leicester lost their third straight meeting at the start of the season following their 52-37 defeat to Eastbourne on Saturday but Korneliussen insisted there is still plenty of time for the Lions to get things right.

“It’s early doors yet and we’ve lost all of our official meetings so far but it’s a fun team and we all have fun together,” he said.

“There is a great team spirit and the track’s not too bad so I can’t complain about it really.”
