TITLE favourites Fratellos took a step closer to the Swindon & District Premier League crown with a 2-1 victory over third-placed Queensfield on Saturday.

Dave Slattery handed the table-toppers the opener from a free-kick and, although Kelvin Spencer levelled for Queenies, Slattery was on hand to tuck home a penalty to win the game for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Anthony Duckett scored his first DJC Marlborough hat-trick as his side comfortably saw off Kingsdown 3-0, while Jamie Clements’ superb volley was enough for Spectrum to beat Old Town Utd 1-0.

Fox & Hound defeated Sportz Central 2-1 at the County Ground Extension. Fox & Hound took the lead through Zachary Ockwell in the 43rd minute and, after Sportz Central drew level, Christopher Tewkesbury netted the winner from the penalty spot with 16 minutes left.

Fox keeper Steve Cook preserved the victory with a stunning double save, including from a Sportz spot-kick, in the 88th minute.

Village Inn ran in five second-half goals to ease past Swiss Chalet Rangers 5-1. Having led at half-time, Chalet capitulated after the break, as Craig Alexander scored twice, Luca Wrona also netted and the scoring was rounded off by an own goal.

In Division One, two strikes from Stuart Cody handed Chiseldon a 2-0 victory at Bassett Bulldogs, while Larry’s Plaice came off second best from a seven-goal thriller against Swindon Spitfires.

Karl Easterbrook scored twice and Ken Hodgson found the net for Larry’s Plaice but the ninth-placed side couldn’t take anything from the game, with Spitfires continuing their march towards the title.
