SWINDON fight fans could be in line for a treat this summer as promoter Keith Mayo is planning to put on three title fights for his June show at the Oasis Leisure Centre.

Penhill’s Kelvin Young is set to be the headline act once again as he makes the first defence of his IBO super-middleweight intercontinental title on June 7.

The 26-year-old, who is set to go into sparring with WBA and IBF super-middlweight king Carl Froch ahead of his big British showdown with Swindon-trained George Groves next month, won the vacant title in December when he out-pointed Bulgarian Alexey Ribchev.

Young was back in action last month with a comfortable points win over Tomas Kugler in an eight-round non-title bout, but now his manager Mayo is keen to get a title defence for his Young Gun.

Newly-crowned Southern Area cruiserweight champion Lawrence Bennett is also being lined-up for a defence of the belt he won last week.

The 31-year-old claimed a 98-94 victory over Margate’s Jack Morris in Southwark last Thursday and Mayo is looking to find a suitable opponent for his new champion.

The Alicante-based light-heavyweight Ricky Pow is also being lined up for a crack at a title with Mayo looking to land the 27-year-old a crack at the IBO Latino belt.

“If everything goes to plan it should be a cracking show,” Mayo said. “The plan is get a title defence for Kelvin.

“I’m also hoping to get Ricky a shot at the IBO Latino belt.

“At the moment we are looking to get Lawrence on that show to defend his title, but if we get a good offer elsewhere we may look at that.”

Meanwhile, Ryan Martin may finally get his chance to face Kevin McCauley when he makes his second outing in the paid ranks.

The former Walcot amateur was due to face the 34-year-old when he made his debut at the Oasis last month.

However, the former England international took on veteran Jason Nesbitt after McCauley double booked himself and the 20-year-old took a 60-55 points decision in the six two-minute rounds contest.

Now the pair are set to clash on Mayo’s show at the GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester on April 26.

Swindon-based cruiserweight Tariq Quaddus continues his comeback from a five-and-a-half year break from the sport when he takes on Jody Meikle in Gloucester.

The 23-year-old, originally from Peterborough, put in a fine display last month to claim a 40-36 win over Christian Gomez.

And with some sparring against Froch in the pipeline, Quaddus will be given some vital rounds in the bank against the One Man Riot, who took former British super-middleweight champion Tony Dodson the distance over four rounds in February.
