ROYAL Wootton Bassett Under 15s came from behind to see off Supermarine 24-5 in a local derby at the weekend.

Marine got off the mark quickly but Bassett responded with four tries of their own, through hooker Tom Absalom, centres Brody Anderson and Doman Thapa and full-back Lawrence Beal - plus two conversions from Ryan Mountford.

The squad are now preparing to head off to Holland where they face Utrecht and Pink Panthers RFC this weekend.

Meanwhile, the club’s under 18s beat their Supermarine counterparts 41-21 in their final Dorset & Wilts 2 North game of the season.

Tries by Mike Smith (2), Tom Sharpe (2), Josh Lewanituva (2) and Jordan Brown plus three conversions by Tom Fieldsend saw Bassett home. Supermarine ran in three converted tries of their own.

Bassett will now face Salisbury U18s in a North versus South play-off, which is scheduled for April 27.

This Friday, Bassett’s Championship-winning under 16 and under 17 squads face Australian sides from Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Queensland as part of the visitors’ tour of Dubai, UK, Belgium and France.

The under 16s are due to kick off at 6pm, with the under 17 fixture following at 7.30pm, with organisers expecting a sizeable crowd at Ballard’s Ash.
