UNITED Arab Emirates Derby winner Toast of New York will join the list of stars on parade at The Betfair Lambourn Open Day on Good Friday.

The winner of this year’s $2 million United Arab Emirates Derby at Meydan, Toast of New York, will join recent Cheltenham Festival winner Present View, the mighty Sprinter Sacre and record-breaking steeplechaser Kauto Star, who will be stabled at Oliver Sherwood’s Rhonehurst stables throughout the morning of the open day.

Upwards of 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the event where more than 25 of the top racing yards in the country open their doors to the public.

The yards are open from 8.30am to 1pm while there is the chance to see horses swimming at Windsor House Stables at 9.30am, 10.30am and 11.30am.

Lambourn’s Valley Equine Hospital is also open with a range of demonstrations taking place throughout the day, including the Rockwood Dog display and farrier displays.

The afternoon programme starts at 1pm when the events field, with its central arena, offers a full programme of equine and country related shows, in addition to demonstrations of country skills.

The highlights this year include the Household Cavalry performing their spectacular Musical Ride and a show jumping competition where soldiers from the Household Cavalry take on top jockeys such as AP McCoy, Mick Fitzgerald and John Francome.

Also included in the afternoon’s activities are pony rides for children, a vast array of trade stands and food stalls at the central events area.

The parade of horses including Kauto Star, Sprinter Sacre and Toast of New York takes place at 2.35pm.

Tickets cost £12 for the whole day, £6 for afternoon entertainment only.

Children under 12 can enter for free.

Car Parks are free and open at 7.30 am.

All money raised goes to Lambourn’s registered charity, The Lambourn Valley Housing Trust which works for the welfare of its stable staff, The Air Ambulance and other local needy causes.
