Swindon swim star Jazz Carlin is bidding for another medal at the British Swimming Championships after booking her place in tonight’s final of the 800m freestyle.

Carlin secured her place in the final after winning her heat yesterday.

The Swindon Tigersharks ace clocked a time of 8:29.77 ahead of Sheffield’s Eleanor Faulkner (8:39.15) and University of Stirling’s Danielle Huskisson (8:39.33).

Carlin will now look to go one better than her efforts earlier in the week when she won silver in the 200m free.

Swindon-born Hannah Miley missed out on a medal in the 200m individual medley as she finished fourth in last night’s final.

Having won her heat in Sunday’s morning session with a time of 2:12.62, Miley went faster still in the final.

However, her time of 2:11.99 was only enough for fourth place as Bath University’s Siobhan-Marie O’Connor (2:09.71), Middlesbrough’s Aimee Willmott (2:10.60) and Bath University’s Sophie Allen (2:11.54) took the podium places.

Grant Turner also missed out on a medal in the final of the 100m free after the former Swindon Dolphin came home seventh in a time of 50.74.

Turner returns to action today when he competes in the 50m free and will be joined by fellow Swindonian James Clark.

Another former Dolphin swimmer, Craig Harris, just missed out on a medal after he came fourth in the final of the S14 200m free.

Swindon’s Tilly Gray will hope to banish the thoughts of her last place in Friday night’s final of the 100m fly when she returns to action today in the 200m fly.
