SWINDON TOWN: Swindon Town release statement regarding boardroom confusion

Swindon Advertiser: Swindon Town have released a statement following the Advertiser's story regarding Seebeck 87 Ltd attempting to appoint three new directors to the club's board Swindon Town have released a statement following the Advertiser's story regarding Seebeck 87 Ltd attempting to appoint three new directors to the club's board

SWINDON Town have released a statement regarding the attempt by Seebeck 87 Ltd to appoint three new directors to the club's board.

As revealed by the Advertiser this morning, the club's former holding company has made moves to bring Adam Fynn, Debbie Priestnall and David Smith onto the board of directors at the County Ground.

In the statement, Swindon Town say, following a court hearing in London on Wednesday, Seebeck were permitted to appoint three 'observer' directors with "no power to pass any reolutions" until the High Court of Justice reconvenes on April 29.

It also suggests that none of the three have passed the Football League's fit and proper persns test.

The statement reads: "Following a series of legal actions against the former Chairman, Mr McCrory has attempted to appoint directors to the Club.

"On April 16th, a decision to place an injunction against the appointment of these new directors to the Club has been adjourned at the High Courts of Justice. The Court Order however has permitted the appointment of three 'observer' directors to the Club with no power to pass any resolutions until the Court reconvenes on April 29th.

"The 'directors' have not passed the Owner's and Director's Football League's Fit and Proper test and are temporary with no decision making powers. The Club will abide by the intention of the Court until readjournment in the High Court on the 29th April.

"The Club stands by the statements made on Dec 3rd by both Mr Power, Chairman of the Club and Mr McCrory the previous Chairman."

Is this Jed trying to batter his way back in, with his appointees voting with him and against Power in an attempt to oust Power from the club once these guys have passed the fit and proper test. Intrigue and subterfuge , claim and counter claim and we the money paying public left in limbo, co incidentally as a lot of season ticket money has been paid in, and right at the end of the season. Timing or what.

What's that all about? Is Lee trying to recover money that was taken out of the club by Seebeck directors or is he possibly working on the fact he was mislead as to the real financial situation of the club at the time of his take over.

Like everyone else, I have no idea what is going on at our club currently. But I do know that this scenario, or ones that feel similar to it, have happened far too often in the past years at our club and I for one am incredibly frustrated by it.

Throughout football now we are seeing people take over clubs with questionable motives. In some cases things seem to come good (frankly I was feeling pretty good about things at Swindon under Power, things have felt stable recently) but once again, we the fans are in the dark about the real happenings at the club we love.

We have watched our club for many years. It is a passion, a love, it is in our blood. We pay our money and we support our team. We talk about it, sometimes argue about it, we have our opinions, but ultimately we are all united in our love for Swindon Town and our desire for success on the pitch and stability off it.

Frankly right now, it seems this situation is a total disgrace. I accept that there are two sides who believe their own sides of the story. But we, the fans, the people who LOVE this club, are more or less completely in the dark.

It is about time that we were treated with the respect that I believe we deserve. Who ever it turns out runs the club. Do us all a huge favour. Be honest with us. We are so so tired of being lied to.

This is not a toy. It's not a game. This club really really means something to us! Please try to look beyond your own egos and interests and settle this quickly!

On the one side we have Swinton Reds putting in 1,2 million and taking out zero, on the other side we have Seebeck 87 who have put in nothing with directors that benefited to the tune of 1/2 million with their consultancy fees and mercs and then selling their shares they got for £1 from Andrew Black to Lee Power for £300k.

McCrory is bad news and a minority share holder , I would be very surprised if anyone with STFC at heart would want him and his cronies back, I just hope when this gets ruled on judges see them for what they are and gives a clear message pay up or shut up.

I'm 100% with your sentiments OTR. Trouble is, it doesn't matter whether the court sees them for what they are or not. The court can only come to a decision based on the legalities. They can't stop the bullshiitters getting back in if the bullshiitters have the law on their side. Fingers crossed they haven't.
