I guess you could say that if we win we have a chance of RESURRECTing our playoff hopes and then we'd be in the HUNT for promotion. Let's hope that we aren't BETRAYED by our back line because i'm sure that some fans will CRUCIFY the team. We may not have many PIECES OF SILVER left but i for one would like to sign that Wilson bloke but that would be a MIRACLE.

Lets hope that Cooper can get the players 100% focused with the on field affairs and let Power use his power in the board room to see off these pretenders, who at best will have to share their p155 pot no doubt, because if they had real money they would have made Lee an offer he couldn't refuse in the open, not via the court room.

Supporting the management and team, Town win today 2-0

Winning goal all that matters though - Smith lacks the vital first touch of a target man (for now, who's to say he won't improve?) but I still reckon he's relied on too much for that role. His strike record is decent and work rate spot on. Great results and well done to Smith for banishing the memories of the penalty last week. Bring on Bradford, can't wait.

I have always been grateful to Jed for coming in and rescuing the club, but it always seemed to me that it was Power that held all the finances and was the driving force behind him. It was obvious that Jed didn't want to hand over the reigns to Power and must have fought it, as he was banned from the County Ground.

Having said all of that, Jed made money when he was pushed aside (and fair play to him) but now is the time to leave the club alone, Power is running a tight ship and we are heading in the right direction, the set up seems strong to fight for promotion next season, so lets hope Power wins the court case and we can spend the summer concentrating on the football and not on more board room upheavals.

Great result today, pleased for Smith to get the winner after all the grief he's been getting, lets hope the fans get behind him on Monday, at least there is still something to play for.

Good win and I think deserved overall - Coventry poor and Prutton is still rubbish minus the long flowing hair! Should have been out of sight at half time but could have gone in at half time two one down given the last terrible five minutes or so.

Thought Troy was wonderful and really composed on the ball. Jay had a great game and Mass also on song. Gladwin not at his best and Byrne also a bit in and out. Miles should have come on sooner and replacing Galdwin was the right choice.

Pleassed for Smith as he took the goal well from a great cross and it was a magic moment for the hoardes behind the goal. I though Smith played well - his control is poor but still better than Pruttons but he was a handful for their two centre halfs, looked a threat and I think will be a good striker - so get behind him! He has a lot of qualities that will come through.

Strange to see such a big club have only about 900 fans watching them!!

brilliant maybe - but it didn't look like it was coming!
Fair play to Smith, he took a bit of stick and i for one thought he perhaps should have done better holding the ball up but, he stuck with it and stuck it away nicely right at the end. He's certainly a trier, first touch and hold up play needs a bit of work though!

Really enjoyed that, especially going mental at the last minute winner, so glad for Smith wish people would get off his back, he's a young striker who tries hard and has decent strike rate. Yes he is no Ranger but unfair to expect him to be, he does not have great first touch but attacking crosses is his strength and we don't put enough in for him, from crosses today he scored a good goal and forced a good save. He is also a decent passer, great ball last week fro Byrne and great ball to Nath today. Troy was outstanding today, so classy. Actually thought Stephens had one of his worse games today (for him - he wasn't bad) but great block. Nath put some great tackles in and also got in to 3 great positions. Pritch was lively and thought Luongo had a better game than recently. I thought Gladwin did ok and showed some more flashes of the clear ability he has I think given encouragement he will continue to impress and progress. I would've subbed Byrne thought he had a shocker imo. Great scenes at the end, loved it. COYR!

You do have to despair at some supporters comments I read something like "when Storey came on he changed the attacking intent " really ???? on for just 2 minutes of the ninety and 3 minutes injury time, hardly touched the ball, chased three passes and never got to any of them. I'm not going to criticise his effort, but what got us the win today was Smith chasing 90 yards back towards his own goal winning the ball and then being in the right place to superbly head in Pritchards cross just seconds later.. if Storey had done that I would have given him credit and when he does I will ..

First half possession football was terrific for over half an hour, with Coventry hardly getting to kick a football, other than to clear hastily...second half evened up a bit, but that last gasp winner, showed Cooper was right to persevere rather than change the game in the way that some fans demanded..glad they got shouted down by the many. a deserved result that keeps the season bubbling for a least another match. Well done boys..some may not want to eat humble pie or recognise Coopers achievements this season, but most would say he has achieved quite a lot, so high time to get off his back.

Onto Monday, another 3 points will keep the season going at least until the last 2 games

Cleuso agree with most of that, they weren't in it until we allowed Fleck the freedom of the park to cut in and plant the ball past Wes.
TAH had a really solid game and Jmac as committed as ever with a yellow or a red guaranteed as the red mist started to descend, but can't fault his passion. Byrne had a shocker and I would have pulled him off and brought m
Miles on who as you say made absolutely no impact in the five minutes he was on but then that's hardly his fault.
Smith's first touch is still poor but you can't fault his work rate and he took his goal superbly. I hope he is given the chance to work on his ball control with Williams (L) in training and he's WIP for me.
Never seen Cooper as fired up as when he came and applauded the fans at the end after telling all the players to come and clap the fans - it was almost Pdc like and good to see.
Let's hope the off field shenanigans don't detract from 100% focus on the last three games because while the playoff pipe dream is still perhaps unlikely it's never over until the fat lady sings and I can only hear her gargling at the moment!

Frustrating second half - crying out for a change as the crowd behind the goal break into a chant of "we should have gone ten pin bowling". Poor tactics as Coventry have been poor.
Too little too late by Cooperman

Sorry Souse RED but you misheard what was being sung. The crowd to the side started the chant and it was aimed at taunting Coventry's SILENT Fans...

"Gone ten pin bowling,
YOU should have gone ten pin bowling....."

You are quite right though and there were some great witty and chants yesterday which was a welcome addition to the terraces.

"He came on our coach
He came on our coach,
Alan Pardue, he came on our coach....
Taken in great spirit but directed at an Alan Pardue look alike as he went to and from the toilet. Everyone rolling about with laughter, including Pardue.."

The downside of all this terrace banter was that on the pitch, for all the possession and controlled football we enjoyed in the first half, the pace of the game was SLOW...
Passing and ball retention was fairly good, although too often there was not enough weight put on fifteen yard pass which allowed Coventry to nip in and intercept those passes with ease. Schoolboy errors stuff really and if our scholars played those sloppy passes they would get a real rollicking. That needs to be addressed on the training ground. Fortunately Coventry were so poor we were often able to regain possession quite quickly.

As for Smith and his contribution, many around me thought he was poor, but I am not so sure. Playing as the loan striker he worked hard across the width of the pitch and offered a target for the midfield to hit, before moving up to support him.
His touch needs to improve if he really is going to hold the play up, OR, he needs another striker to player closer and off him. For me, too get the best from him he needs to play with a strike partner.

After sixty minutes the Town support were calling for Miles Storey to come on and play just that role.
Whether it was because the crowd had chanted his name or not we do not know, but Miles was sent out to warm up, much to the delight of his supporters.
Credit to Coventry's manager though who obviously decided instead of sitting on his hands in an end of season dead rubber, he would take the game to Swindon, introduced two quick subs and Towns bench had been out thought again. And yet it was us who had the outside chance of the play-offs !!!!!

Storey returned to the bench and for me Mr Cooper frustratingly became Mr Snorey as he slept through Coventry's growing threat to our goal.
For the remaining twenty -twenty-five minutes the call to Mr Cooper for the introduction of Miles Storey and for Town to push two up top went unheeded.
With two minutes left Mr Cooper finally capitulated and gave the fans what THEY had been telling him too do for far too long.

MILES STOREY....GAME CHANGER..

Even with only 2+3 minutes Miles's pace caused Coventry a real threat.

The terraces also awoke from their slumber and now for the first time chants of ATTACK...., ATTACK.......ATTACK, ATTACK ATTACK, echoed around the Sixfield.

Smith, now dropped into the hole and Miles with his pace played the runner off the last man and Town suddenly, and at last, looked very dangerous, Smith looked more comfortable and it seemed everyone knew and believed we were in with a real chance of grabbing a late late winner.
He may not have had too many touches, but Storey WAS the catalyst for snatching this victory.

THE CROWD WERE ABSOLUTELY SO RIGHT...... He should have been introduced at least twenty minutes earlier and taken the initiative right away from Coventry. Instead we almost handed them the points.

Yes Mr Cooper got it right in the end, JUST, but tactically it took him forever to wake up to what was going on upon the pitch during game time. FAR, FAR TOO LONG TO REACT TO THE DANGER.
As for Smith, in scoring that goal you could see the pent up anguish as he punched the air, and looked into the crowd with what I sensed was a real release of pressure, and what looked close to tears in his eyes..As if to say," THAT'S FOR YOU AND ME, NOW GET OFF MY BACK, I TOLD YOU I COULD DO IT"..

The Miles Storey debate will no doubt go on to the end of the season with different views and through another summer, with the "He,s got to learn to hold the ball up" rubbish put forward as a reason not to start him. BALONEY..

Miles Storey is not a blunt battle axe that you pump balls up too and expect him too wait while others join in, he is more a rapier that pierces and kills defences with agility, searing speed and an ability to finish. Please give him more game time Mr Cooper.

Could the minus muppet who gave my post the thumbs down please explain their rationale? ( I realise they might need wiki to look that up) but pray tell me where it contained any degree of negativity or inaccuracy? They obviously weren't at the game!

Sorry don't agree with that assessment....posses
sion is 9 tenths of the law....losing it regularly deflates not only the individual but the team as well....a forward that doesn't have the strength or nous to retain possession or make the correct runs can be as much a liabilty as help...If speed alone is one of the keys to success, let's get Mr Bolt after all wasn't he wanting to play for premiership Manchester,,.

Nothing certain about that substitution 20 minutes from the end would have taken the game away from Coventry ...it may well have handed it to them given the number of additional times we would probably have lost possession.

I'm also not convinced that "an ability to finish" is as clear as you say it is..4 goals in 38 league appearances is hardly Michael Owen territory... (and includes the "fluke goal" at Tranmere) .... bit part player at the moment who may make the odd useful contribution... and hardly a game changer

Think you will find Miles has played 8 full games / 23 as sub and scored 6 goals . So his average is around 1 goal every 3 games. No wonder our young players don't stay at our club with the sort of fans we have like others have said get off smiths back and that goes for miles as well both good players but need time.

i'm not getting on his back, it's just that given his injuries, lack of consistent selection under various managers, including loans, suggest professional opinions deem that at the moment he is not consistent enough to warrant a starting position as your stats seem to indicate.

I would also be looking at more than 15 goals over a season as a "main striker".

Don't get me wrong I would love him to succeed, but at the moment I just do not see him, unless he improves a number of aspects of his game as someone who is that "game changer" that some think. I do accept he has made the odd successful contribution albeit not consistently.

His most effective matches have been as sub and in the games where he has started he has generally disappointed.

I wish him luck, but improvement is necessary before I will be clamouring for his selection ahead of others, but will cheer any goal he scores (except an own goal of course !)
