AFC Gas can wrap up the Swindon Sunday League title tomorrow night after their 3-0 win at Castrol moved them four points clear at the top of Division One with two games remaining.

A brace from James Blake and a Ryan Thomas strike has put one hand on the title for Gas and a win at second-from-bottom Wheatsheaf tomorrow will see them crowned champions.

“We are trying not to put too much pressure on the lads at the moment,” said Gas manager Alan Blake. “We’ve told them to keep doing what they have been doing all season and they will get the job done. I think it will be a massive achievement winning the league, but we know any slip and Greyhound are there ready to pounce.”

Second-placed Greyhound romped to a 7-0 success at Wheatsheaf and they know that they can only hope Gas slip up in their final two matches of the season this week.

If the league leaders fail to pick up a win in those matches this week, the title hopefuls will then get their chance at the start of May when they play their final two games of the campaign.

Division Four champions Nationwide Pavilion ended their season with a 5-1 victory over Eldene and maintain their 100 per cent league record, while in the other game in the division Cleeve Tech ran out 4-1 winners against Smart Movers.

The Running Horse moved within a point of Division Two leaders SKS Blyskawica following their 7-0 success at cellar-dwellers Tap and Barrell. The table-toppers hold a slender one-point advantage over Horse, Deers Leep are second level on points with Blyskawica but having played two more games, with both the leaders and the third-placed side having three matches remaining.

Meanwhile, The Windmill edged a nine-goal thriller over AC Swindon.

Cheney maintained their hope of catching Division Three leaders Walcot with a 4-0 success over Glevum Commercials, but the table-toppers realistically only require one point from their final two matches to seal the crown due to their vastly superior goal difference.

Third-placed KC Globe ran out 3-1 winners over Robnor Resin, while Rodbourne Real secured a 3-0 victory at PL Motor Service.

Division Five runners-up Swindon United brought the curtain down on their campaign with a 2-2 draw at Penhill Moonrakers.

Leaders Gorsehill Borough ended second-placed Coleshill Youth’s hopes of winning Division Six with a 1-0 victory, however, third-placed Bounce Squad maintained the pressure on the table-toppers with a 6-0 success over Marlborough Town Casuals.

Cricklade Park Rangers romped to a 14-1 win over basement boys CM Automotive, while Rug Shack defeated Swindon Athletic 8-2 and Freshbrook returned home from Save on Tyres Athletic with a 6-2 victory.
