SWINDON Town won for the sixth time in seven matches, as Lee Cox’s first goal for the club handed the Robins a 1-0 victory over Bradford City at the County Ground.

Cox popped up in the area to curl home and settle the tie in the Robins’ favour in the 64th minute, as the hosts dominated proceedings.

Swindon manager Mark Cooper made two changes to his starting XI following the 2-1 win at Coventry City on Good Friday. Cox came into the middle of midfield for Ben Gladwin while Miles Storey replaced the ill Nathan Byrne, with Cooper reverting to a standard 3-5-2 formation.

After a tepid first half, during which Bradford had the best chance when Gary Jones’s free-kick was saved by Wes Foderingham, Swindon turned on the style in the second.

Michael Smith had a close-range header well stopped by Jon McLaughlin in the visitors’ goal before Cox latched onto a loose ball inside the area to curl home the opener for the Robins.

Storey drew a good save out of McLaughlin following Alex Pritchard’s tidy pass, as Town, who dominated possession for much of the game, pushed hard for a second.

Pritchard spurned a glorious chance to double his side’s lead, firing wide after being played in by Luongo, while the Spurs winger then forced McLaughlin to leap to his right to turn a swinging free-kick away to safety. A second goal wasn’t forthcoming but it wasn’t needed anyway. This was comfortable for Swindon, if not electrifying.
