FORMER skipper Hans Andersen will guest for Swindon Robins on Thursday night in the absence of current captain Troy Batchelor.

Australian Batchelor has been called up to ride for his country in a test match in Poland on Thursday evening, when the Robins host bottom side Birmingham, with Andersen the perfect choice to guest.

The Dane won the Elite League with the Robins in 2012 before leading his side to the play-offs last season, but was not retained for the new season and quickly joined Coventry.

Alun Rossiter will also be without star reserve Steve Worrall who is riding for Edinburgh at Ipswich in the Premier League, with a decision yet to be made regarding a replacement.

Steve Worrall yes I remember him, rides for Swindon now and again. I see he guested for Eastbourne on Saturday after missing the Robins match at Lakeside even though his Edinburgh match was called off. Is there really any point in signing a rider that misses more matches than he rides for us. Hans is a great guest but the farce of speedway rears its ugly head again with chopping and changing teams week in week out. Elite Speedway should have gone onto Monday nights only so the riders know what day it is all this riding on different nights just does not work and they should do like other Countries and ride on just one same night every week then we would have more chance seeing the riders that actually signed for each club. Farce is speedway at present with all this development league and they have the audacity to still call it Elite League?

The farce goes on and on! The 'diluted' Elite league cannot even get priority for the services of their fast track rider!! Priority is given to the National League for the services of the rider -effectively the 3rd Division takes priority over the 1st Division. What other sport would sanction this kind of absurdity!! I am in despair over the future of Speedway in the UK.
