SWINDON Town youngster Karolayne Byrom played a major role in England Under 15s’ undefeated campaign in 2013/14.
Byrom, a member of the Girls’ Centre for Footballing Excellence at the County Ground, helped guide her country to victory in the Bob Docherty Cup, before setting up the goal which secured a 1-1 draw with Scotland at Pollok Park in Glasgow on Saturday.
England topped their pool to lift the Bob Docherty Cup - a competition involving Wales, Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Slovakia - beating Wales 2-0 and ROI 3-0, as well as defeating Scotland on penalties, in the process.
After the tournament, Bryom said: “It was amazing to be a part of.
“I was very nervous because of the large crowd but when I heard the Welsh, Scotland and Northern Ireland girls supporting the Republic of Ireland I was determined to win.
“It was a fantastic experience.”
Of the game in Glasgow, Byrom said: “It was amazing experience and I have friends for life.
“We were playing football the way I like to see it played, although we were in it to win it.”
