SWINDON Shock completed a dramatic title treble this weekend, adding the WEBBA Trophy and Cup to their Division One league victory.

On Saturday Shock beat Lockleaze Renegades 81-56 to take the Cup crown – a straight knockout competition for teams in the top three WEBBA leagues.

On Sunday they also won out in the Trophy competition, where each team is handicappped based on their relative position in the league system. This meant Shock started with a 70-point defecit on opponents Nailsea, turning it aorund in the last minute to win 109-101.

It is the first time that the treble has ever been completed in the 50-year history of WEBBA.

Having founded the club five years ago chair, coach and player David Colclough was able put Shock’s triple success in perspective.

“It’s a remarkable achievement considering our first members didn’t know how to dribble the ball when we started, not only did we win the league convincingly, we won all three trophies.

“It was absolutely gruelling weekend.

“Nobody pays attention to local league basketball usually so when you’re winning it’s nice to see some people in the crowd.”
