CHILDREN’S favourite Mr Potato visited Kidz About yesterday to promote healthy eating and encouraged young people to keep active.

The Peppa Pig star played games with the children at the indoor soft play centre in Mead Way.

He said: “Everyone, but especially young people, must exercise regularly and eat healthy food every day.”

He posed for pictures and gave out stickers to the children before heading into the town centre to spread the healthy lifestyle message.

Kidz About manager Alistair Burnett said: “It was really good fun and the kids absolutely loved meeting him.

“We have a few character visits but every child in the country knows Peppa Pig and her world, so all the stars from the show are very popular.

“Mr Potato’s visit to promote healthy living was very fitting for us as we offer lots of facilities such as play areas and slides to get children active.

“We also work very hard to spread the message about healthy eating too.”

Mr Potato will be taking to the stage at the Wyvern Theatre in Peppa Pig’s Big Splashon May 24 and 25.

Theatre marketing manager Richard Loftus said: “We’ve welcomed Peppa Pig and her friends to the theatre several times and the shows always prove very popular.

“It was great going out with Mr Potato to Kidz About as the children there absolutely loved meeting him.

“They were screaming with excitement, some were kissing him and they were all keen to get a picture with him.

“It was great to get Mr Potato out and about spreading his healthy message and it’s nice to give the children and the people of Swindon a taste of what the shows are going to be like.”

Peppa Pig’s Big Splash will see her working with friends to raise money to fix a leaky nursery roof. There will be three performances, 10am, 1pm and 4pm, on both days.
