THE Ross On Wye course has a reputation as being a tough one for visiting teams and so it proved as Cirencester Seniors fell to a 6-2 defeat.

The margin of defeat disguises a rather closer contest, aside from two ties all of the other matches were closely fought.

Ciren’s only win came from John Canty and Gordon Stone against Roy Lipscombe and Pat Waldron. Other points coming from two halved matches between Roy Lipscombe and Pat Waldron as well as Alan Diamond and Graham Morgan.

John Pugh and Patrick Moylan took their match to the last hole as did seniors captain Clive Bennett and John Parsons but both eventually lost out.
