TARIQ Quaddus is ready to halt the One Man Riot tomorrow night.

The Swindon-based super-middleweight returns to his hometown of Peterborough to face veteran Jody Meikle over four rounds.

The 23-year-old will be making his third outing since March, following a five-and-a-half year hiatus from the sport, but this will be the first time that he has fought in Peterborough as a professional.

“I haven’t boxed in Peterborough since I was a kid,” Quaddus said “It has been a long time and I’m looking forward to it.”

But Quaddus, who was originally set to face Jamie Ambler, isn’t going to let the occasion or Meikle get to him.

“We have had a look at him and he is an awkward fighter,” he said. “What you will see is someone who is going to come in nice and patient.

“I’m not going to lose my rag, I’m not going to lose my head, I’m going to be nice and calm, I’m going to box him.

“I’m not going to get frustrated, like what a lot of his opponents do. I’m going to keep my cool and box his head off for four rounds and get another win under my belt.”

After Saturday’s fight in Peterborough, Quaddus will then be back in action on June 7 at the Oasis Leisure Centre on the undercard of Kelvin Young’s first defence of his IBO inter-continental super-middleweight title.

Manager and promoter Keith Mayo is also hoping to have Alicante-based Ricky Pow on the show.

However, the 27-year-old is set to face former WBO light-heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo over 10 rounds in Spain tonight.

Mayo said: “I’m going over to watch him, so we will see how he gets on first.

“There is still a possibility (of Pow being on the June show), we’ll just see how he gets on first.

“Once we get this fight out of the way then we will sit down with him on Sunday before I come home.

“We didn’t get to see how Ricky operates on the Swindon show (against Josef Obselo in March) because of the clash of heads.

“Ricky has got a lot to offer, hopefully, I get to see a few rounds on Friday - he is an exciting lad to watch fight.”

Meanwhile, Swindon lightweight Joe Beeden is in action on Sunday when he faces Sean Davis at the Hermitage Leisure Centre in Leicestershire.
