SWINDON TOWN: Courtroom showdown postponed

Courtroom showdown postponed

Courtroom showdown postponed

First published in Sport by

THE courtroom showdown between laywers representing Swinton Reds Ltd and Seebeck 87 Ltd, originally scheduled for today, has been postponed.

A hearing between the two parties, representing current Swindon chairman Lee Power and the company which claims to still own the club, Seebeck 87, had been earmarked for the Rolls Building in London today.

In the print edition of the Advertiser, we reported that Swinton Reds are continuing to seek an injunction preventing Seebeck from placing three new directors - Adam Fynn, Debbie Priestnall and David Smith - on the club's board.

An application was made on Monday for the case to be heard by Mr Justice Mann in courtroom 10 at the Rolls Building. However, after the Adver went to print last night, this paper was made aware that the hearing, which had previously been listed on the Rolls' daily cause list, was no longer due to take place.

Subsequently it was removed from the daily cause list and no resolution is expected today.

Yeah - Power should just stick his hand in his pocket pay Jed and Co millions and be done with it!
.
Or perhaps he wants to fight to save himself and therefore, STFC as much money as possible like most people would
.
It was reported that contracts have been put to the players they want to retain - so those are being sorted

Might have been an option under Black - but we don't have the wage budget anymore to sign these sort of players - he coming form the Championship and played in the Premiership - I doubt he is anywhere near 1k a week which is now more our level than the previous 3-4k
.
The PFA Transfer list has lots of quality players on it already and more are being added by the day - but unfortunately most will be out of our price range these days - Liam Chilvers (CB-32), Peter Clarke (CB-32), Nat Jarvis CF-22) , Will Hosikins (CF-25), Joe Jacobson LB-27), Tommy Rowe (CM-25), Nat Knight-Percivil (LB-27), Gabby Zakuani (CB-27), Daniel Fox (LB-27) and Leroy Lita (CF-29) are all free agents - but doubt we could afford any!

No insider information - just know people who went to the court last time who spoke to various parties involved
.
The basic consensus was Jed and Co do not actually want the club - they simply want to get cash for their remaining shares and are using whatever means they can to get as much as possible - thus this potential court case

Leroy Lita would be a quality addition to the squad. Not only has he played for Bristol City and Reading, thus immediately endearing him to the County Ground faithful, but he is a true role model off the pitch - an ideal replacement for Nile Ranger.

I think the board (whoever they are) should really push the boat out to capture this stellar signing.

I'd bet you're right LR. I suspect it might also be McCrory's way of trying to persuade Power to drop his other legal action. The best result for Power, the club and the fans would be an outright win for Power, so that he can get McCrory completely out of the way and carry on his action. There's also a chance that we'd then actually get to know some facts for a change - something else Transparent Jed probably doesn't want us to see. Sadly though, the fact that it's got this far probably means there won't be a clear cut answer, meaning that a financial compromise will be reached and we'll still be none the wiser.

This is just another reminder that we have had, and remain to have, a body of people who purport to have the interest of the club at heart but in reality are just in it for the money,to bring the club to its knees and further disrepute without any consideration for the supporters, who through their support fund their off the field bickering. It makes me sick. Can they all go away now please so some normality can return to the county ground.I really don't care who comes in next as long as they are interested in STFC as a football club and not as a cash cow to line their pockets.Complete transparency is a must but whilst we have Jed in the background and Power in charge we will never get that.More rhetoric, lies and deceit for sure.

Yeah - Power should just stick his hand in his pocket pay Jed and Co millions and be done with it! . Or perhaps he wants to fight to save himself and therefore, STFC as much money as possible like most people would . It was reported that contracts have been put to the players they want to retain - so those are being sorted
Bit of an assumption here, that you know what the court case is all about. Where did you get your insider information from ??
No insider information - just know people who went to the court last time who spoke to various parties involved
.
The basic consensus was Jed and Co do not actually want the club - they simply want to get cash for their remaining shares and are using whatever means they can to get as much as possible - thus this potential court case
I tend to agree that Jed & Co just want an inflated pay out for their shares. If as we understand, Lee Power owns 51% of the shares, then it is Lee's call....he makes the decisions he owns the club.
"The majority owner can make all decisions, but there are some restrictions, the majority owner cannot deprive the other owners of the right to vote for directors. Even though the majority owner can elect the majority and possibly all of the directors, the other owners still get to vote. The majority owner cannot do anything that is prohibited by, or not authorized by the Articles of Incorporation".
Obviously the court case is just a ploy to create a " thorn in the side" for Lee Power and create more pressure on him to buy out the remaining shares held by Jed & Co. Nasty I know, but a common tactic to make a nuisance of one's self when a minority shareholder is hostile.

Might have been an option under Black - but we don't have the wage budget anymore to sign these sort of players - he coming form the Championship and played in the Premiership - I doubt he is anywhere near 1k a week which is now more our level than the previous 3-4k .
If £1k per week is our top earner,we should pack up now. It has to be more than that.
I did say about that - I guess some will be higher - but not too much as their weekly wage is only a part of what a footballer earns - they then earn more for appearances and other bonuses i.e. win, goal, assist, clean sheet or promotion
.
Plus they often have relocation etc added in - thus Adam Rooney was on a package close to 8k a week! (with reported wage about £3-4k)
.
I believe £2.5m is our budget - with 25 players that is under 2k a week (total package) on average!
.
Cooper spoke about 20 - which increases it slightly to £2.4k - but again that is total package so would expect the actual wage to be much more than £1.5k

It seems the North West is having a major cull today with Blackpool letting 17 go and Blackburn 16!
.
Blackburn mainly seem to be Youths but Blackpool seems pretty much their entire fist team squad including Barry Ferguson, Chopra, Earnshaw and Tyson (who would be good but wages would be an issue)
.
Just shows how bad football has become that clubs can let pretty much entire squads go at once!
.
You have to wonder why wages haven't be driven down as surelyt supply out strips demand these days - looking on the PFA transfer list players like Divine who we had on trial has had a club since leaving Villa last summer - surely he would sign on somewhere for peanuts now if he wants to be a professional footballer!

I think that wages will fall in the lower leagues as the gap between the Prem and Championship continues to widen. I only see more foreign players being attracted to the Prem by filthy lucre.which will see more home grown lads scratchng around for contracts.

Pompey are a far bigger club than ours.

Power is doing nothing wrong. No billionaire richer than you and me.
Fact he has put money into the club.
Don't get fooled by Jed as soon as he gets a sum of money will be off. Mind you expect him to be around in the pub lording it around what a great guy he was and how he saved the club. Ask how much he took out ?

Power has investors but nobody will touch us until weaver stable again.
Likely to be settled out of court and then we can get back to building a squad for next season.
