SWINDON Town showed an interest in bringing experienced defender Nicky Shorey to the County Ground before he signed a new deal with Portsmouth yesterday, the Advertiser understands.
Following the release of Jay McEveley at the end of last season Town are likely to recruit a new left back this summer, with a move for former Reading and Aston Villa man Shorey discussed, but any potential deal did not significantly progress before the ex-England international agreed to stay at Fratton Park for another year.
Elsewhere, former Town loanee Alex Pritchard has been linked with Wigan.
