TROY Batchelor wants the Robins to build a fortress at the Abbey Stadium as they bid to move up the Elite League table.

Swindon go into tonight’s clash with Leicester having not completed 15 heats at home since April 24, picking up three wins from their five matches in which results stood at Blunsdon, losing the other two.

Skipper Batchelor knows any team looking to make the play-offs needs to be rock solid at home and is keen to start that process this evening.

“We are always pretty strong at home, although we have lost there, and a good team is always strong at home.

“You need to be as well because that’s where you build a bit of confidence and build the base for your season so we need to try and do that now.”

With a good forecast for tonight Batchelor, like everyone else associated with the Robins, is keen to see a meeting completed but is all too aware of how quickly things can change.

“We have our fingers crossed for the fans as well because we all want to get a dry meeting in because we want to get the show on the road,” he said.

“I think the right decision was made but it was a real shame we had another rain-off because we need to try and get this one in somewhere, because it’s really not helping us get any rhythm going.

“Everything keeps getting rained off for us and the forecast is good for Thursday, but it was good for Monday too and I was in shorts and a t-shirt before the meeting. Then look what happened.

“All you can do is look ahead and hope for a bit of luck and hopefully get a meeting on.”
