DAKOTA North fears he may have torn ligaments in his knee but his hopeful his prognosis may be a wrong one.

The Australian crashed with compatriot and close friend Sam Masters during the Robins’ meeting with Leicester on last night, clipping the Lions riders’ back wheel before hitting the fence at speed.

North is hoping to have a scan in the coming days to discover the extent of the problem but, having torn a ligament in his shoulder not long ago, is fearing the worst.

“I’m okay but my knee isn’t the best,” he said.

“We’ll have to get a scan and see what’s wrong with it but it doesn’t feel the best, although we won’t really know what’s wrong until after a scan.

“The track was a little patchy for the first few and because I don’t go out until heat four I don’t really know what it’s like. I was following Sam in and I caught up to him way too quick and clipped his back wheel.

“It wasn’t the best things because he’s a good friend, but at least the team got a win.

“I tore my AC in my shoulder five months ago and this feels kind of similar but I’m not a doctor and I really can’t say.”

Robins boss Alun Rossiter has already admitted he may be looking for a short-term replacement for North with Nicolai Klindt, who North originally replaced in the Robins side, a likely a candidate after guesting for Swindon yesterday.
