LAWRENCE Bennett is predicting fireworks tonight as he clashes with Chris Keane in a British cruiserweight title eliminator.

Swindon’s Southern Area champion, is looking to move himself into line for a shot at the Lonsdale strap with victory at the Oasis Leisure Centre tonight.

But the 31-year-old is fully aware of the test that lies in wait for him as Keane is a former ABA super-heavyweight winner and Midlands Area champion.

The man from Walsall has also stopped five of his 13 opponents, all inside of three rounds, but Bennett believes that he has the skills to continue his remarkable rise up the ranks.

“With Chris Keane you have got to box him,” said Bennett, who is only making his seventh outing as a professional.

“I have seen him fight and yes he has got power but with 10oz gloves we have all got power.

“I need to stick to my boxing and not get into a brawl with him, he has been beaten, he has got two arms and two legs so I have got to go in execute what I have got to do and I will win.

“It is not going to be an easy night, but as long as I execute what I have to do and follow my game plan then it is going to be a cracking fight.

“He is more of a puncher-brawler whereas I’m a boxer-mover so either way there will be fireworks.”

Bennett feels that his ‘why’ will help get through any tough moments in the bout.

“I’m a great believer you have got to know why you are fighting, why you are doing it, because there is going to be a point in the fight when it is going to get tough,” he said.

“It is going to get hard in there, I’m fully aware of that, it is going to hard and it is going to get painful - but I know what I’m fighting for and why I am here.

“I’m liking being on posters and being interviewed, I don’t want to go back to doing four rounders, my little daughter goes to school and people say that your dad is a fighter, she loves that and I love that.”

Bad Boy also feels that his heart will be greater than his opponent when the bout moves into the later rounds.

“The first six rounds is about skill, the last few rounds is about heart, about determination and who wants it more,” he added. “I have got everything to gain from winning this, this is such a massive thing for my kids, for me, going forward this is going to help me so much.”
