WOOTTON Bassett captain Darren Beasant isn’t expecting an easy ride when he takes his Wiltshire League Division One leaders to Swindon Civil Service tomorrow.

Having beaten fellow high-flyers Malmesbury and Hinton Charterhouse in their previous two outings, Beasant’s men hold a nine-point lead at the summit.

However, having suffered a 91-run home defeat to Civil Service last term, Beasant knows that Bassett cannot take their eye off the ball.

“It is getting very interesting in our division,” Beasant said. “Maybe people are seeing us as favourites, but Urchfont and Malmesbury will be up there too.

“And Civil Service, on their day, can beat anyone - they absolutely battered us at our place last season.

“Going to Penhill, looking to get a result isn’t going to be easy.”

Bassett will welcome back batsman Jack Dymoke and spinner Paul Huckin to the side with Jack Paish and Lee Stevens unavailable.

“We are not quite at full strength, but we are not far from it, the changes that we have made are like for like,” Beasant added.

Second-placed Malmesbury will look to maintain the pressure on Bassett when they visit Hinton.

Former pace-setters Charterhouse have slumped to two consecutive defeats which has seen them fall to fifth in the table, while Malmesbury bounced back from their Bassett reverse with a 81-run success over basement side Collingbourne.

Swindon Nalgo will be aiming to pull away from the bottom two in Divison One when they visit Bradford-on-Avon.

Nalgo are level on points with Collingbourne, who entertain Box tomorrow, but a win at third-from-bottom Bradford could see them leap-frog their hosts.

In the other Division One match, third-placed Urchfont travel to Beanacre and Melksham, who currently lie in fourth spot.
