NEW Purton manager Justin Miller can’t wait to get his players back in for pre-season training next month.

The Red House chief, who replaced Chris Pethick at the end of last season, says that he has got all his plans for the summer in place, including several new faces.

While, he doesn’t want to divulge their names until they have signed on the dotted line, Miller is pleased with how the squad is looking for next season.

“The majority of the last season’s squad have all told me that they want to stay,” Miller said. “We have lost two players though.

“Johnny Coole (last season’s player of the year) and Darren Brown have both decided that they want to take a break.

“I have asked all the players to commit and they have done. I’m going to be keeping in touch with Johnny and Darren as they have both said that they are willing to help out if we need them.

“We are back in training on July 1 and there will be a few new faces that I’m bringing in and I’m pretty excited about the new campaign.”

Purton will kick-off their pre-season programme with a trip to Pewsey Vale on July 12 before visiting John Fisher’s Highworth Town six days later.

Miller’s first game at the Red House will be on July 22 when they host Devizes Town before they visit Sam Collier’s Shrivenham on July 26.

Purton’s pre-season schedule will finish with two home games, first against Southbrook on July 29, before entertaining last season’s Hellenic League champions Wantage Town on August 2.

“It is a good pre-season programme,” Miller said. “We have got games against sides from lower down the pyramid as well as ones higher than us.

“That Wantage game is going to be tough, but that is what we need as they new season starts on August 9.”
