SHANE Moore is targeting bringing some silverware to his home town club next season after signing a new deal with Swindon Wildcats.

The Link Centre side’s captain became the ninth player of last year’s squad to commit their future to the EPL outfit and now he wants to bring even more joy to the fans after reaching the play-off finals weekend last term.

“I think that we should be aiming for silverware,” the 27-year-old told the Advertiser. “Last year we had the right idea, we got to the final four in Coventry – the aim has to be the same.

“Teams around us are improving as well, but the team that Aldy (head coach Ryan Aldridge) is putting together I’m really excited to be a part of.

“We should be aiming for at least the same as last year – the top four in Coventry but I would like to see us hit top four in the league as well and potentially bring some silverware home.

“We should be looking at getting to cup finals - they are a big opportunity for us to take advantage of.

“The games will come down to individual errors and who makes the least.”

Moore was unveiled to supporters at the club’s first street hockey day at the Link Centre and the former Great Britain under 20s international said that it was great to be a part of the day.

“Being announced in the paper is quite nice and everyone will message you in their own way,” he said.

“But it was nice to come back and see a lot of familiar faces and it is good to see that hockey in the community is going on in the off season.

“I’m really pleased to be back at my home town club, you get a nice warm reception.

“As soon as Aldy spoke to me and said that he wanted me back, I knew that I had to come back. My life is in Swindon, it was an easy decision to sign straight away.”

Moore is believes that Aldridge is putting together a well-rounded squad for the new campaign.

“I think that Aldy has really developed as a coach over the last two to three years and it is nice to see that he is putting together a good blend for a team.

“It is not necessarily about bringing in the best players that you can find, but bringing in the players that are going to fit his coaching style, the way that he wants to play.

“I think he did that last year and definitely this year as well he is aiming to do the same.”
