FAIRFORD Town begin their pre-season programme tomorrow and new boss Gareth Davies is raring to go.

The former Malmesbury chief has replaced Paul Braithwaite at the helm at Cinder Lane, meaning a return to the club he served for eight years as a player.

He will have the chance to get to grips with his squad for the first time tomorrow night and is excited to get his tenure underway.

He said: “I can’t wait to get things started here. It’s an exciting time and we are all looking forward to pre-season.

“Last Saturday I spent from around half past nine in the morning to about five o’clock on the phone to players and the response has been good. The facilities here are good and we have spoken to a lot of lads about coming down.

“The numbers will be good but pre-season is about getting the hard work in and for us, it will be about taking a look at the players in training and in games.”

The clubhouse will be open from 4.30pm tomorrow with England’s World Cup game shown from 5pm. Training begins at 7pm.
