SWINDON recorded back-to-back wins in Glos/Wilts Division after defeating Westbury and District by 82 runs.

The County Ground side had been buoyed by the fact that they had disposed of the then league leaders Lechlade the previous weekend by nine wickets.

On Saturday, Swindon were indebted to the all-round display from Adam Tucker.

The opening batsman top-scored for the hosts against Westbury with 43 as he put on a first-wicket stand of 85 with Marc Williamson as Swindon posted 244-8, with Adam Tribbick also scoring 43 and Wiliamson getting 42.

Tucker then shone with the ball to rip out the visitors middle order as he claimed 4-19 from his 10 overs to dismiss the visitors for 166 with two late wickets from Tribbick.

“It was a very good win,” said captain Liam Tucker. “We didn’t want to get carried away from the win last week so it was important to build on that.

“We know how competitive this league is and if you don’t maintain your standards we know all too well what can happen.

“We now want to make sure that we pick up as many wins as possible to stay in this league and then push on from there.”

The captain was also full of praise for Adam Tucker for his man-of-the-match performance against Westbury.

“Adam moved to us over the winter,” Liam Tucker said. “He performed very well with the bat first up and then was very economical with the ball.

“Matt (Kidd) and Mike (Wilson) picked up early wickets, while there were a couple of late wickets for Dan Harris and Adam (Tribbick).”

Tucker is now hoping that his side can now go on to post big scores with three players reaching their 40s in their total of 244.

“If you had given me that score at the start of the day I would have been happy,” the skipper added. “And the fact that everyone contributed was good.

“What we need to do now is someone to push on and hit a big score, but I’m really pleased with how we went on Saturday.”

The win over Westbury moved the County Ground side up into fourth place in the table just 16 points behind leaders Rockhampton.
