SWINDON ROBINS: Kildemand hoping for World Cup inclusion
ROBINS number one Peter Kildemand is hoping his recent individual heroics have taken him one step closer to a spot in the Danish World Cup side.
The Dane made the final of his home Grand Prix at PARKEN last weekend, with the wildcard showing all the form which has made him such a favourite for the Robins over the last three years.
He backed that up last night with second place in the opening round of the European Championship in Gustrow, finishing only behind three-time world champion Nicki Pedersen.
Denmark team boss Anders Secher has yet to announce his 10-man squad, which Kildemand is all but certain to be in alongside the likes of GP stars Pedersen, Niels-Kristian Iversen and Kenneth Bjerre.
It is likely Kildemand is competing with the likes of Michael Jepsen Jensen and Mikkel Bech for the final spot in Denmark’s four-man team, but the Swindon number one is hopeful his form in Copenhagen will take him a step closer.
“I just ride my bike and it seems to work for me,” he said. “I don’t ever put any pressure on myself – I just ride. Hopefully that result will help my SWC chances.
“I’m going well in the leagues anyway. Now I’ve done this Grand Prix and everything looks pretty good for me being in the World Cup. That’s one of my goals for the season.”
Denmark take on Sweden, Latvia and the Czech Republic in Vastervik on July 29.
