WILTSHIRE Ladies’ hopes in the Johns Trophy, inter-county championship, are over for another year after losing to Devon in their final west group match last Saturday at Culm Vale.
However, despite being beaten by 114-105 the side put up a spirited performance.
Wiltshire, who remained unchanged, shared the rink honours with Devon 3-3 with wins for the rinks skipped by Alex Jacobs (nine shots), Sue Ochyra (five shots) and Stratton Churchway’s Janet Willis (one shot) over England international Natalie Melmore, but lost out on overall shots.
Last year’s Johns Trophy winners Devon always held the upper hand in the match.
They led 28-22 across the board at five ends, 52-47 at 10, 80-73 at 15 before finally winning the game 114-105 at 21 ends.
