TWO MORE places at the National Championships at Royal Leamington Spa are up for grabs today as Bradford-on-Avon host the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Wiltshire ladies national pairs championship.

The two winning semi-finalists will seal a place in the county ladies pairs final at Westlecot on July 26 and also the right to represent Wiltshire at Leamington in the national pairs championship.

Three local combinations, two from Wootton Bassett and one from Stratton Churchway will be chasing those two places in the final stages (last eight) as well as reigning champions Sue Cooke and Alex Jacobs (Box) who have won the title for the past three years.

Three of the recent newcomers into the Wiltshire Johns Trophy, inter-county side will be representing Wootton Bassett - the Smith sisters Lucy and Katy, while Charlotte (Charlie) Harding is joined in the pairs by Doreen Croucher. It is a first last eight appearance for both Bassett duos although Charlie Harding did reach this stage last year with her sister Vicky Spiers.

Stratton Churchway’s hopes this time around rest with a new pairing of Jackie Pearce and Janet Willis.
