SWINDON’S Alice Neighbour recently claimed a superb third place at the British Under 13 Girls Cycle Speedway Championship.

Despite only being 11 years old, the youngster more than held her own among the older age group and battled her way to a rostrum spot at the event held in Edinburgh.

It was a weekend full of success for the Neighbour family, with Alice’s older brother Jake claiming the under 16 crown at the South and South Wales Under Riders Championships.

The event was held at Swindon’s Oasis Leisure Centre, and saw more than 40 riders competing in a host of age categories.

Jake started his campaign with a victory in his first ride, followed by a fall in his second, but managed to reel off three more victories to take the title on a run-off having totalled 18 points.

Swindon Cycle Speedway Club hold training sessions for seniors on Wednesdays from 6pm throughout the summer with junior sessions at 6pm on Fridays.
