ANNA Mayes and her England team have this morning missed out on a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games after losing out to Jamaica 52-48.

The Swindon team led her side out of the pool stage in Glasgow before losing their semi-final to New Zealand yesterday, but they couldn't get amongst the medals this morning as they slipped to defeat.

Mayes told BBC sport: "We are absolutely gutted, I think the girls are better than the performance they put out today. It was a hard task to recover from the match against New Zealand and unfortunately we didn't play to our best, but credit to Jamaica.

"We will look closely at where we lost possession, I think we had opportunities to take the game and have to be more clinical, but the girls have given everything."
