SWINDON student Daniel Jelley has earned a football scholarship in America.

The former Highworth full-back recently attended a showcase in Florida and, following a successful day, he was offered the chance to play at Young Harris College in Georgia, where he will also study for a degree.

The former New College student is set to start pre-season training in August and is excited to get started.

“I got introduced with many universities at the showcase and got lots of different offers,” he said.

“I chose Young Harris College after discussing the soccer team with the coach. They made me an offer that reduced the tuition fees and my living costs by 50 per cent, I accepted and I’m off – it has all happened so fast. I can't wait to get out there.”

The InTuition showcase takes place each July and gives 200 athletes from 32 different countries the opportunity to play live in front of US college coaches. They also get a taste of university life in the States, as they spend nine days living on a university campus in Florida.

Jelley continued: “This is an amazing opportunity to combine my degree and take my game to the next level.”

Places are now available for the 2015 showcase and interested players should register their interest online at: www.student-scholarships.com.

Scholarship opportunities are currently available for football, basketball, tennis and golf.
