MARK Cooper felt that his side could have beaten Crewe Alexandra by more than the two goals they bagged at the County Ground on Saturday.

Swindon moved up to sixth place in the table with their success over the Staffordshire outfit and maintained their perfect record at home.

While at times Town looked content to pass the ball around in the middle of the pitch, they never came under any pressure from Crewe.

“We had the opportunities to make it more comfortable early on and have a stress free last 40 minutes,” Cooper said.

“But football doesn’t work like that. You don’t get given anything, we missed the chances, but we kept going.

“There was a lovely goal from Andy Williams. It was a lovely ball from Ben Gladwin and a lovely finish .

“The league table makes decent reading. We just want to keep playing and enjoying our football and keep going.”

After two matches where Town have piled on the pressure against their opponents, Swindon had to show patience against one of the division’s strugglers.

Crewe arrived at SN1 having been beaten 5-2 at Gresty Road by Rochdale and they were determined not to be rolled over for the second match in succession.

“I thought that we were very comfortable,” Cooper said. “It was a different kind of display, we had to be very patient.

“Crewe gave us the respect and tried to not give us any space in behind and (they) probably came for a point and teams are not going to come here and make it easy for us.

“We had to patient, we had to wait for the right moment, but I didn’t feel we were ever in trouble.

“We totally dominated the game again – it was a good three points.”

The Town boss added: “When you have the possession stats that we have, teams get a little bit worried about being pulled all over the pitch and don’t want to give you any space.

“We just believe in what we are doing and sooner or later the gap will open up and we can take advantage of that.”

Cooper is also hopeful that he will have midfielder Massimo Luongo fit for tomorrow night’s Capital One Cup clash with Brighton and Hove Albion.

“Massimo we thought he had a little bit of a chance to play today,” Cooper said in his post-match press conference.

“But he didn’t have any improvement overnight, so we weren’t going to take any chances. He has got his international game coming up, so we are hopefully looking to Tuesday for Mass.”

As news is a little slow today, I have to say that is a very strange looking apostrophe that you're using.
