ACTING chairman Kevin Bishop believes Swindon’s campaign in South West One East this season has been sprinkled with added spice by the presence of three more Wiltshire sides in the division.

The Greenbridge Road side kick off their 2014-15 campaign tomorrow with Oxfordshire’s Grove the visitors after two titanic battles between the clubs that finished fifth and sixth respectively last season.

However, Swindon will also have appointments with Chippenham – relegated from National League level last term – Devizes and newly-promoted Trowbridge to look forward to.

“We’re really excited about the season,’’ said Bishop.

“Grove finished a point behind us last season and both home and away, we only beat tham by three points so it’s a good match to start with.

“With the games against Wiltshire sides in there too, there should be a few more supporters travelling to games and that just adds a little more to it.’’ Adam Westall again captains Swindon with the coaching team led by Sean Lynn remaining in place.

Bishop added: “Pre-season build-up has been good and we’ve got the nucleus of the squad from last year still in place. We’re itching to get back on the pitch and improve our league position.’’

ROYAL Wootton Bassett, who kick off their Southern Counties North campaign next weekend have games for their first, second and newly-formed third teams against Salisbury at Ballards Ash tomorrow.

The second and third teams kick off at 1.30pm, with the first team in action at 3.15pm.

Bassett welcome players from U6-U16 to four weeks training for free from RFU-qualified coaches on Sundays from 10am. Contact mini and Junior chairman Justin Cliff on 07952473032 for details.
