LUKE Watkins debut opponent has been named as David Vicena in a six-round contest.
The 24-year-old Swindon cruiserweight will make his first outing in the paid ranks on Saturday night at Wembley Arena against a man who has fought Manuel Charr and reigning IBF 200lb world champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez.
Vicena, a 35-year-old from the Czech Republic, has a record of eight wins, six of them finishing early, two draws and 20 defeats.
Watkins’ trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick told the Advertiser: “This dude has gone the distance with Robert Helenus and he is a murderous puncher.
"He has gone the distance with the current IBF world cruiserweight champion.
“Tony Conquest stopped him in a round, but he just let his hands go crazy, got him with a body shot and the referee stepped in.
“What I want for Duke to do as close to the six rounds as possible.
“This dude he is fighting has taken some good fighters the distance.”
