SWINDON skipper Adam Westall is certain that his side can’t bank on their ability to pull off another great escape if they allow themselves to fall behind at high-flying Towcestrians this weekend.

The Greenbridge Road side roared back to overturn a 27-point deficit last weekend, claiming a dramatic 31-30 victory over Witney.

But with a trip to Northamptonshire, to take on an unbeaten team, currently sitting second in the South West One East table, on the cards this Saturday, Westall is hoping that Swindon don’t leave themselves with too big a mountain to climb by causing their own problems.

“It really was a game of two halves last weekend, to use a cliché,” said the full-back, who went over the line to score a try against Witney.

“We didn’t play well in the first half and were 27-12 down at half-time but after that, we improved and did enough to scrape a 31-30 win.

“I think that Towcester are the best team in the league. They play a simple game and they’ve got big backs and powerful forwards.

“It’s going to be a tough game but hopefully we can have a bit of ball and play the way we like to play rugby.

“We’ve been our own worst enemy at times by trying to do too much at times.

“Rugby is a simple game and all you have to do is win your collisions and play your rugby in the opposition’s half.

“We’ve been working on the defensive side of things a lot in training and hopefully we can improve that side of our game, because we know that we’re always going to be able to score tries.”
