HAVING not played for the past 10 days, Swindon Town are facing another hectic spell in their League One campaign.

Given the start that the County Ground outfit have made to the League One campaign expectations are beginning to grow.

Although the squad that manager Mark Cooper has put together is shy of experience, the ability and skill shown by the Town players has got many dreaming of the Championship.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Yeovil Town, Swindon keeper Wes Foderingham is pleased that the team are defying the early season expectations.

“No-one really expected us to be up there at all,” Foderingham said. “To be up there with two games in hand is massive.

“It gives us a little bit of incentive and a little bit of a cushion with not too much pressure.

“If we can pick up two wins then we are going to be flying.”

After this weekend’s trip to Huish Park, Town face five games in 14 days due to the international call ups of Massimo Luongo, Brad Smith and Yaser Kasim.

“When they get cancelled they come as Tuesday games so it is a quick turnaround,” the 23-year-old keeper said.

“If you have a bad result there is a game on Tuesday to put it right, on the other side of it if you have a good performance and a win when Tuesday comes there is another chance to win again.”

With the Swindon only tasting one defeat, 1-0 reverse at Crawley Town, in League One this term, Foderingham believes that the players at SN1 are more than capable of plying their trade at the level above.

He said: “Ability-wise we have got some fantastic players, who I believe, all or the majority of them can play higher.

“I’m sure that you will see a lot of them play higher in the future because there is a fantastic ability in the squad.”
