SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge is keen for his players to put on a show for the home fans tonight.

The last time his Cats players took to the ice at the Link Centre they suffered a humilating 7-2 defeat to Peterborough Phantoms.

And with Guildford Flames the visitors to the west Swindon venue, Aldridge wants to give the fans a show.

“We owe them one after our last performance at home,” Aldridge said. “Sometimes you lose, I can accept that as long as we have worked hard and gave our all.

“But the last time we were at home we didn’t do that and I wasn’t happy at all.”

The visit from Flames, a side who beat them 4-2 at the Link Centre last month, should also see Floyd Taylor back on the ice for Cats this evening for the first time since sustaininng a concussion in a pre-season challenge match at the start of September.

However, Aldridge said that Callum Buglass is unlikely to feature as he has yet to recover fully from his concussion.

“There is no point risking players when they have got concussion,” Aldridge said.

“In days gone by people would just suck it up and play on, but you can’t do that.”

The Cats chief was also pleased to see several of his side make the Great Britain under 20s squad this week.

However, with Taylor, Buglass, Ollie Betteridge and Okanagan Academy boys Michael Stratford and Glen Billing all in the squad, Aldridge will be looking to having to strengthen his line-up to cope when they are absent in December.

“It is great that they are in the squad, even if it does leave me short on numbers,” he said. “I’m looking at bringing in new faces, but it is not like football - it takes time.”

After tonight’s visit of Guildford, Cats make the short trip to Bracknell Bees tomorrow.
