SWINDON Town have given full backing to TrustSTFC’s primary school campaign to get families back to the County Ground.

Representatives of Trust met last week with chiarman Lee Power and general manager Steve Anderson to discuss, amongst other things, the primary schools campaign recently launched by the Supporters’ group.

The Trust had announced they had designed, funded, printed and distributed 20,000 leaflets to Swindon Primary School children, promoting family membership to the Trust, and promising to work with the club to find solutions make the County Ground more attractive to families.

Mike Welsh, vice-chair of the Trust, was delighted with how the meeting went.

“We shared our vision of the future in terms of families and Swindon Town and both Lee and Steve were incredibly supportive. They recognise the potential and the need to get families back to the County Ground and have given their full backing to our campaign, enabling us to press ahead with our ideas.

“The next step is for us to update our newly established Trust “Schools Working Group” which consists of a number of local head teachers, and then we’ll announce our plans.”

As well as the schools campaign, the Trust have also recently invited over 1,000 members to answer a survey regarding matchday attendance, and the results were presented to the club at the same meeting.

Trust Chair Stephen Mytton explained: “The survey results were really interesting – we analysed the comments and looked for common themes, including many non-financial points raised by our members. We presented these key points and suggestions to Steve for his consideration.

“He’s well aware, as most of us are, that some fans were unhappy with the current pricing policy but as we know the club have taken action on that with the recent ticket pack launch, which we all need to support. We can get people to games for under £15 now, so there’s no more excuses - I’d urge all non-season ticket holders to buy one as soon as possible.”
