SWINDON suffered their first defeat in ten games as a last gasp Bastien Hery goal gave visitors Rochdale a 3-2 win.

Dale had never beaten Swindon in 15 previous meetings between the sides but three headers from the travelling side was enough to send the County Ground fans home unhappy.

Anton Rodgers opened the scoring when he got his first goal in Swindon colours in the 35th minute, after Cooper handed him his first league start of the season.

However Rochdale replied just minutes after the restart when Matty Lund headed home from eight yards out, before Peter Vicenti headed his seventh goal of the season.

Michael Smith brought the score level with less than fifteen minutes to go but Town could not find a way through a determined Rochdale defence and the visitors snatched the win in the second minute of added time.

Rochdale had the first real chance of the game on 11 minutes when Matty Done put in a good cross to picks out Henderson, ten yards out, but Wes Foderingham was out quick and made himself big to keep him out.

There was a big penalty shout on 20 minutes after Byrne went down under the challenge of Lund but no penalty given.

The full back seemed to stumble and keep his feet before going down. If he had gone down straight away it would have been a harder decision for the manager to make.

Swindon found their feet as the game went on and they deservedly took the lead when a ball from Amari’i Bell was able to role all the way across the box, past Michael Smith, and Rodgers was there to open the scoring.

Rochdale always looked dangerous on the break with Henderson looking lively but he missed a golden chance to get Rochdale back level when a deflected pass from Yaser Kasim found him in the box with only Foderingham to beat but he pulled his shot wide, kicking the post in frustration afterwards.

Rochdale did find themselves back on level terms though just five minutes after the restart.

Matty Done looked to have handled in the box, but the ref shook his head, and his cross found Lund open to head past Foderingham to his right.

The lead was doubled for the visitors just ten minutes later when former Swindon player Michael Rose whipped in a corner and Vincenti was on hand to header a bullet past Foderingham.

Swindon were next to reply in the 77th minute after Jake Reeves had a good shot from outside the box to force a fine save from Conrad Logan high to his right for a corner.

Kasim took the resulting corner and after going through a field of bodies and Smith scored with a lovely flick to get his eighth of the season.

Swindon continued to press for a winner and went close through a Kasim free-kick on the edge of the area before Jordan Turnball saw a header from a corner just evade the far post.

Jon Obika was next to be denied after he got on the end of a Byrne cross but he saw his header from point blank range superbly tipped over the bar by Logan.

With Swindon pressing Henderson, who had looked lively all game broke and won a corner off of Reeves, who was tracking back.

Rose again took the corner and somehow the ball was flicked in at the front post by substitute Hery to deliver Swindon’s first defeat in more than two months.
